Road Trip: Day One

Okay, so day one of our road trip to Washington was Sunday, July 27th. We started out around 10 a.m. and drove to Redding where we stopped to visit my Aunt Debbie and her family. Carley found she loved playing with the little dogs there and toted them around like a little doll if they let her.
After leaving Redding, it was a short stop, we had a long day of driving and only stopped a few times to eat, run and get gas. We hit a rest stop outside of Yreka where the kids practiced jumps to burn some energy. Somewhere in Oregon off of some highway heading to the coast we stopped at an old time A&W for some great root beer and okay burgers.
We got to Sunset Bay State Park around 9 p.m. Sunday night. Thankfully we'd reserved a yurt and didn't have set up a tent for the night. Yurts are a wonderful invention in my opinion; they have electricity, heat, beds, solid floors and lots of comforts but come with the wonderful outdoors. We just pulled our sleeping bags, pillows and clothes out of the car and were ready for bed after our long day.

This is a picture of the sky light in the yurt. If you look closely you can see the table with lamp and my mom reading a book on her bed. You can kind of see the bunk beds, which is where I was laying in the shadows taking the picture.
I'll post about day two tomorrow.

That yurt looks fabulous. I totally want to copy your trip now. Well, without the jumping around at the rest stop. :)
