There was a time when Walt and I spent our winters snowboarding. When Josh was a toddler, we used to talk about how much we were looking forward to teaching him how to snowboard when he got older. Well. Time went buy and we never made it happen.

Until that February weekend we spent in Tahoe.

The house we rented was so close, maybe 15 minutes, from Homewood Mountain Ski Resort that we couldn't not make it happen. Walt and I have our own gear so we only had to rent for the kids. That was a bit of an ordeal initially but after over an hour we had it settled and hit the snow with boards in hand.
We took to the bunny slope.

Josh and Carley didn't fare well on the towrope so we'd hike a little bit up the hill, strap the kids onto their boards and watch them ride down. We did this over and over again.
Carley picked up snowboarding really quickly. She had no fear and could stay up on her board well.
Josh, on the other hand, had a hard time getting the hang of it. He truly thought that it would be just like skateboarding (which he doesn't do much of) and that he'd be flying down hills in no time. After learning it wasn't that easy, he got frustrated and wanted to give up.
He didn't. We took a break for lunch and after that he gave it a go again. He got the feel of it and started having a great time.

At the end of the day we were exhausted. We never actually rode a real trail but we had such a great time together that it didn't matter.
Josh and Carley really loved snowboarding; Carley begged to go again the next day.
We all look forward to going again. Next year.
