Josh doesn't have a hunting license so he was a non-shooter. But he still got to see if duck hunting is something he'd enjoy, and see if he'd want to take the class to get his license.
Since check-in is at 4:30 am, they drove to the reserve Friday night and slept in the van. With the seats removed or folded down and a mattress pad thrown on the floor, it's like a mini-camper.
They both had a great time together. I love to see father-son bonding.

One of the first things Josh told me was that he got to build a "fort" in the bushes. He was thrilled.

Josh with the catch and Kenny's dog, Oliver.

Josh testing out how waterproof his waders are.

Apparently they're parked beyond those trees in the distance. Long walk in waders.

Thanks to Kenny for taking his camera and capturing Josh's first-time experience for me.

First day hunting done. This boy is becoming a young man right before my eyes.
