We just had spring break! Walt took the week off too and we headed down to Carpinteria for another visit.
This time Walt took us and his sister, Emma, up to the mountains to a area called Lizard's Mouth. The views were spectacular and the boulders were water or glacier worn.
Josh photo bombing from the other side of the rock.
Lizard's Mouth overlooks Goleta, just north of Santa Barbara.
Apparently this peak is actually Lizard's Mouth. It is a cliff face on the other side. Eek!
Walt is walking down and around to the other side to show the kids the cliff face. At least it's not that far down.
We took a trail back to the car, which was a lot easier than scaling rocks and squeezing between boulders.
Carley and I were leading the group when we saw a large garter snake, mouth full of lizard, scurry into the bushes. The lizard had dropped his still-moving tail. Josh carried it for a while, until he decided to throw it at the back of my head. He's lucky I love him so much.
We all had a great time getting out to explore something new.
