Have Games, Will Travel

Today is the first day of the first camping trip this year. Actually, after Walt works all day and we drive 4 hours we will arrive at the campground where we'll sleep. Most of the camping will start tomorrow.

Since we don't have a DVD player in the car to occupy the kids -and I'm grateful that they won't be able to watch TV for a whole 48 hours- I've gathered travel games to hopefully keep them entertained rather than fighting.

I came across Travel Tangoes the other day. Carley has already tested it out and loves the challenge of building the shapes with all seven smaller shapes. Have you played this before? It's challenging because on the cards used in the game there aren't lines where the small shapes belong like it shows on the cover.

On road trips we usually do a small scavenger hunt where I pick five objects that the kids have to find along the road. I decided to use a longer printed scavenger hunt that may take the whole trip. I found this at MomsMinivan.com.

Also at MomsMinivan.com, there are 2 different bingo games with four boards each.

On top of that, I'll be bringing kid music, paper and pencils, a roll of aluminum foil (to build items with imagination), and a few of their favorite toys. It's only 4 hours but it could be a long 4 hours if the kids are bored.
