Recently she wanted French Toast for breakfast but I was still in bed. It was only 7am! She ran back and forth from the kitchen to the bedroom to get the "recipe" from me. She made it herself. When it came time to cook, I was out of bed and assisted her with heating and oiling the pan but that was it. She did the dipping, flipping and cooking by herself. She was so proud. I was so proud.
We found a cooking class for her age group through the local park and recreation district that we frequently use for classes. It turned out that her preschool teacher, who we loved, was teaching the class.
There are four 3 1/2 hour sessions. Each day they focus on a different meal. The first day was breakfast. The last class they will make dessert.
"Breakfast" day they made waffles, an egg frittata, and home fries potatoes.
"Lunch" day they made nachos, chicken fingers and hamburger pizza.

She wears the apron I made her to every class.

This day was "dinner" day.

They made lasagna and twice baked potatoes.

They made this. Octopus cassorole? Maybe.
She is so excited for the dessert class where they'll make cookies and cakes. Baking treats is her favorite part of cooking.
At the end of the class, Carley will be given a recipe book with all the recipes they used in class. I'm looking forward to trying a few at home.

I love her wearing your apron you made her! And it looks like under-the-sea casserole with the fish and shells. I don't think I've ever known and girl so young that loves cooking SO much! Maybe she'll become another Rachel Ray or Julia Childs!?
