Alright. I'm a huge slacker.
I think I'll make it up to you by posting for twelve days straight. I'll just call it 12 Days of Christmas. It is, of sorts. There won't be any gold rings or a partridge in a tree but you can stop by this blog for twelve days in a row and find a new post.
Maybe? You think I can pull this off? I'm going to give it a try!
Josh is a freshman in high school this year, which means school dances! Josh and his girlfriend, Maddy, went to homecoming with a group of friends.
All six went to dinner, rode a Ferris wheel and hung out at the dance together. His friend's mom even took them to play laser tag afterwards. All of this happened after Josh played three games in a water polo tournament earlier that day. See his sunburned face?
Funny face photos are a must. Even if I try to take a nice photo of Josh, I have to get him through several weird faces before he'll smile nice.
Okay, that's it, short and simple. Come back tomorrow for another one. Unless, of course, you are out of the habit of checking. Then you may see them all at once.
In 2008, I started this blog as a way to keep out-of-town family and friends up to date with what is happening in our lives. With so much distance between us, they miss out on my kids' events and activities. This gives them the opportunity to watch my kids grow up.

Day 3 of 7: Dance
Carley started dancing at Ovation's Dance Studio in January. This is the "real deal" compared to the dance she did through the park and rec district.
Carley has dance class once a week. The class has been practicing a dance for a recital, which is next month.

Last weekend, Ovations put on a benefit performance to raise money for a local charity. Dinner was served, items were auctioned, and the classes danced their dances. It was really quite fun.

I don't know any of these people. I just wanted you to see how it looked. Walt and I went together. Josh was a friend's birthday party so it ended up being a mini-date.

Back row on the left. If you can't find her, it's because she had me straighten her hair for the show. She insisted!

We were so proud of Carley. The performance was far from perfect but that's part of what makes the little girl dances so awesome.

Carley was beaming. She had such a great time! That's what counts, right?

Carley Dances Again
While I was in Colorado, Carley had her "dance show". Walt videotaped it so I could see how great she did. I clipped it to share with you.
(Sorry for the jiggly camera. Josh was the videographer.)
She starts Level III today because she's mastered the Level II steps.

Carley Loves Dance
Nothing for a week and then we have the weekend. This weekend got jam-packed with many fun activities.
To start the weekend off, Carley had a dance "recital". She takes tap/ballet class every Saturday morning through the Sunrise Park and Recreation District and class is typically held in a small dance room where there isn't much space for parents to hang out to watch practices. To make up for that, the teacher holds the last class of each session at a local community center in a larger room and families can come watch class. The boys and girls don't mind that they aren't putting on a big dance performance but are just so happy to have family there to see them dance and cheer them on.
Walt left early Saturday morning on a hunting day trip with his buddy, Ken, so he wasn't able to see Carley's show this weekend but has been at all the others. We were excited to have Janeice, Josette and Shawn come watch though. Carley really enjoyed having extra family there to watch her.
