Our First Cruise: Flights & Day 1

Walt and I have been planning for this cruise for the past 4 months. When we first booked, it seems so far away. Now I can't believe it is already over.

We flew from Sacramento to Miami on Saturday, February 16th, with a long layover in Houston.

Carley and Josh killed time by running back and forth on the moving walkways.

And we took the TerminaLink, above ground train, just for fun a few times too.

Once we made it to our hotel in Miami, it was about 9:00 pm. The weather was chilly and very windy but that didn't stop the kids from swimming in the outdoor pool. They said it wasn't cold. Walt and I were bundled up as much as we could be in the light clothing we brought with us.

Sunday morning we caught a taxi and boarded our cruise boat, the Carnival Glory.

After the muster drill, we set sail.

The first evening on the boat was a little strange. We didn't know the layout of the boat yet so trying to find our way around took some time. Walt and I registered the kids for their Camp Carnival programs. We had dinner for the first time at our specifically-for-us dining table and met the wait staff. Walt and I got a massage to shed away the travel troubles and get us relaxed for vacation. Ultimately, the evening felt like a bunch of appointments.

But we had made it and were on our way to Mexico!
