Independence Celebration

Independence Day means fireworks. The kids have been counting down since the fireworks booths started showing up along the roads. It's only seven days of counting but finally the day came.

Just about Carley's typical bedtime, we headed over to our local community celebration. It was our first time attending our town's Fourth of July event. It turned out to be laid back and not too crowded.

There was music, snacks, free kids crafts and free bounce "houses" for entertainment before the fireworks started.

Red #40 doesn't really fit into our current eating plan but sometimes we make exceptions.

"Don't trust my SISTER!"
Paper fans were the only craft left by the time we got to the craft table.

Waiting impatiently for the fireworks.

We started sitting farther back but Josh wanted to see how the fireworks were lit up. We moved so close this is what we could see. The fireworks were directly overhead and we had to watch for hot embers floating down!

After the show, we headed straight home to light off our own fireworks, miniture style.

Carley lit her first fireworks this year. With adult supervision, of course.

Happy Fourth of July.
