WA: Day 2

Thursday, July 31st.

I met up with a long time friend, Laurie, and her daughter, Alexis. We took the kids to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma for the day.

Wow, that's some zoo! It even impressed Josh who is far from being a zoo fan. There are average zoo animals like elephants, tigers and moneys but it also has some really cool, rarely see them kind of animals: beluga whales, puffin, and even reindeer! There were even a couple employees that had a porcupine on a bench out in the open. I've never seen one before and they look like the cutest, fluffiest things. Turns out they don't shoot quills like all the cartoons or movies show but you have to actually touch them to get stuck. The zoo also has a Kid's Zone where there are play structures to let the kids mimic the movements of some of the animals.

Anyway, Laurie's daughter is just a year younger than Carley. By the end of the day, they were best of friends. We all had a terrific time.
